Bettie Joan (Hamman) Tiemann, 91, of Brenham, Texas, passed away on June 1, 2026.
Bettie was born on June 11, 1934 in Nauvoo, Illinois to Leland Pete Hamman and Floy Agnes (Mosley) Hamman. She was baptized and confirmed at Messiah Lutheran Church of Keokuk, Illinois in February 1960.
Bettie shared a love of horses with her family and as children she and her brother, Jack, rode horses to their one room schoolhouse in Nauvoo, Illinois. They proudly rode colors Grand Entry at the Tri State Rodeo. During her youth she enjoyed playing basketball with her cousins in the barn hay loft.
She became a member of Grace Lutheran Church in 1970 and was a home childcare provider and member of the Brenham Home Day Care Association. She enjoyed in her spare time watching the children from daycare grow up playing sports, showing animals in the fair, graduate HS and college. She also enjoyed watching sports on TV with her good friends at K & M and listening to the Brenham Cubs and local All Stars on KWHI. When she was able, she enjoyed going to the Bluebonnet Opry. Working in her yard was her mental therapy. One of her favorite pastimes was watching the many security/game cameras they had at the farm in Nauvoo, watching and hearing the birds, the corn being planted, growing and harvested.
Bettie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Wendy Tiemann of San Antonio and Gary and Lori Tiemann of West Columbia and her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Darwin Bayh of Hempstead. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mason Welllman, Reese Bayh, Abigail Tiemann, Ryan Tiemann, Corey Tiemann and great-grandchildren, Aria Wellman and Maverick Wellman.
Proceeding Bettie in death were her father and mother, Leland Hamman and Floy Hamman and brothers, Jack Hamman and Robert Hamman.
A visitation for Bettie is scheduled for Friday, June 12, 2026 from 5:30 – 7:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church, 1212 West Jefferson Street, Brenham, with Pastor Ryan Ogrodowicz officiating.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Mason Wellman, Reese Bayh, Ryan Tiemann, Corey Tiemann, Louis Tiemann, Abigail Tiemann, Rich Hendrikson, Jonathon Hendrikson, Kirk Cameron, Brad Tiemann and Darin Tiemann.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Grace Lutheran School, 1212 West Jefferson Street, Brenham, Texas 77833.
She ran a home day care in the 90’s and enjoyed following the kids she cared for grow up, playing sports, showing animals in the fair, graduate HS and college and get married.
