Betsy Jean Corr Johnson, 98, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, in Brenham, Texas. She had fought a long battle with dementia.
Betsy was born on March 8, 1927, at her home in Thornburg, Virginia. She was the middle child of Herbert and Annie Corr. After completing her elementary education at Marie School, she graduated with honors from Spotsylvania High School in 1945. She went to work at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington D.C. and later worked in personnel at Capital Airlines at Washington National Airport, Washington D.C.
Betsy, a devoted homemaker, with her husband, Bob, a commercial airline pilot, made their home in Virginia, first in Alexandria, then Norfolk, and finally back in Alexandria. During that time Betsy was active in Plymouth Haven Baptist Church and continued her interest in creative endeavors. She learned how to make hats and took Japanese floral design. As a skill seamstress, which she learned from her mother, she sewed many outfits for herself and her daughter including her daughter's and daughter-in-law's wedding dresses. Always devoted to her family, she tirelessly drove her daughter to piano lessons every week and became a great den mother for her son's cub scouts.
In 1969, Betsy lost her beloved best friend and husband, Bob, to cancer. At the age of 64, Betsy continued to stay busy at her home in Los Altos and traveled with friends to Panama, England, and Russia and often visited her children and grandchildren.
Betsy is survived by her daughter, Dianne Johnson Clover and husband, Carl, of Brenham, Texas and her son, Bob Johnson, Jr. and wife, Laurel, of Yorba Linda, California, and five grandchildren, Josh Clover and his wife Alison, Jessica Jackson and her husband, Jeff, Courney Clover, Angela Johnson and Bob Johnson III. Also Betsy has five great grandchildren, Tiana, Isabella, Jack, Kara and Zachary.
After a graveside service on Saturday, August 23, 2025, Betsy was laid to rest beside Bob, at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery, in Industry, Texas with Pastor Jill VIvroux as the officiant.
