Bernice Buck Gaskamp, 94, passed away on May 25, 2026. Bernice was born on October 27, 1931 to Charlie and Lydia (Breddin) Buck in Washington County.

She was baptized December 26, 1931 in St. John Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg by Pastor Holm. She was confirmed April 14, 1946 at Immanuel Lutheran of Wiedeville by Pastor R.J. Weber.

On July 23, 1950 she was married to Melvin Gaskamp at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Gay Hill. They were married 61 years. She was an active member until her death. Bernice taught Sunday School and Bible School. She and Melvin sponsored the Lutheran League for 19 years. She also served on several committees in ELCA Women.

Bernice was employed at St. Francis Hospital, Sweet Briar Nursing Home and retired after 21 years at Krause Elementary School. She was also a representative for Stanley Home and Fuller Products for 56 years.

Bernice loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and cooking for family and friends. She also loved to play cards, dominoes and other games.

Bernice is preceded in death by her loving husband Melvin Gaskamp, her parents; Charlie and Lydia Buck, sister; Evelyn Buck, brother; Alfred Buck, father and mother-in-law; Edward and Sophie Gaskamp and brother-in-law; Emil Gaskamp. Left to cherish Bernice's memory are her children; Daniel Gaskamp (Teresa), Donald Gaskamp (Ginny), Lee Gaskamp (Betsy), Jeanette Harrison (Philip), Janice Rinn (John) and Lorri Wilkening (Mark), her grandchildren; Misti Hampton (Richard), Mindy Vinklarek (Jeramie), Melanie Warschak (Koy), Andrea Scarbrough, Aimee Scarbrough, Jordan Alexander-Gaskamp (John), James Harrison (Holly), John Harrison (Dori), Heather Rinn, Jake Gaskamp (Faith), Sam Gaskamp, Jonathan Gaskamp (Brittney), Dustin Pegg (Carla), Jared Pegg (Joanna) and Natalie Pegg (Shamon Moore), great-grandchildren; Hanna and Mark Vinklarek, Wes and Maggie Warschak, Elinor and Wynnston Harrison, Vivian and Charlie Harrison, Marley, Jace and Gemma Gaskamp, Sophia, Lucas, Eva, Maxwell and Charlie Pegg, Weston Gaskamp and Stiles Moore and sisters-in-law; Esther Gaskamp and Sylvia Gaskamp. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Bernice will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Memorial Oaks Chapel located at 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Friday May 29, 2026 at 10:00 am at St. Peter Lutheran Church Gay Hill located at 8201 Old Gay Hill Road, Brenham, Texas, with Pastor Skip Stutts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be; James Harrison, John Harrison, Jordan Alexander- Gaskamp, Jake Gaskamp, Sam Gaskamp and Jonathan Gaskamp.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the care team of Accent Care Home Health and Hospice for the exceptional care of mom in her final weeks.
