Bennie Driver, beloved father, grandfather, uncle and friend, of Brenham, TX, died December 17, 2020, at the age of 97 years, 5 mons. and 9 days.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 21, 2020 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 21, 2020 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Following the funeral service there will be a graveside service and burial at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, Houston, TX. Pastor William L. Plotts of Texas Home Health Hospice, officiating.

Bennie was born on July 8, 1923, in Houston, TX, to Lillie Bowman Driver and Columbus Driver. Bennie, a WWII Veteran, served his country in the U.S. Navy, in the Pacific Theater, on the coast of Saipan.

On October 27, 1947, Bennie married Myrtle Rolan, in Houston, TX. Bennie and Myrtle divorced in 1972. On March 30, 1973, Bennie married Mary Ann (Neuhoff) Stockton, in Houston, TX.

Bennie is preceded in death by his father, Columbus Driver; mother, Lillie (Bowman) Driver; wife, Mary Ann (Neuhoff) Driver; eight of his siblings, Albert “Bubba” Driver, Trecy Ellis, Ida Martin, Arthur Driver, Fred Driver, Cora Kreitz, Johnnie Driver and Maggie Driver.

Bennie is survived by his two daughters, Joyce Ann (Driver) Wyatt and Janice Fay (Driver) Negrete, both of Brenham, TX. Granddaughter, Kerry Negrete of Converse, TX, grandson, Mark Wyatt of Spring, TX, granddaughter, Amy (Wyatt) Davis and husband Chris Davis of Crosby, TX, grandson Benny Negrete of Andover, NH. Great-grandchildren, Brayden Negrete, Rosalyn Azar, Madalynn and Calvin Davis, Logan and Wyatt Negrete. Step-son’s, Terry Stockton and wife Peggy S. Stockton, Larry Stockton and wife Linda Stockton, Jimmy Stockton and wife Peggy L. Stockton and numerous step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bennie was a dedicated son, helping his mother and siblings on the farm, after his father died at the age of 48, leaving Lillie to raise 9 children, by herself. He worked most of his years as a service station attendant/manager. Bennie and Mary Ann moved to Brenham, TX in 1983, where he lived for the next thirty-seven years.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Steve Wyatt, Mark Wyatt, Brayden Negrete, Chris Davis, Johnnie Driver, Chris Stockton, and Michael Stockton. Serving as an Honorary Pallbearer will be his grandson, Ben Negrete.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
