Alice Harrison

Alice Kathleen Harrison, 98, died Friday, May 10, 2019, at her home near Carmine.

Kathleen was born February 16, 1921, in Breckenridge, TX, to Thomas Lee and Bessie Lynn Nixon. After high school graduation she entered the work force, working as a sales clerk, and office clerk in the retail industry. Upon her retirement from TG&Y, she moved from Houston to reside on the family property in the Carmine area.

Kathleen was a member of First Baptist Church in Burton, and she was active in church activities. She was also a talented seamstress, and enjoyed quilting, watching Astros games, and playing dominoes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Kenneth Nixon and L.R. (Budge) Nixon; and her sister, Patricia Vanderburg.

She is survived by her daughter, Martha (Midge) Cloyd; grandsons, Vince Cloyd and fiancé Elaine Sager, Chris Cloyd and wife Karon; great grandson, Bobby Lee Hooper and wife Kay; and great-great granddaughters, Page and Layla Hooper.

She is also survived by nieces, Sharon White and Karen Wright; and nephew, Jerry Lee Vanderburg; as well as numerous great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

Visitation with the family will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2019, at First Baptist Church, 920 N. Colorado St., Burton, TX. Services will begin at 11 a.m. with Brother Larry Ideker officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Burton.

Serving as pallbearers will be Vince Cloyd, Chris Cloyd, Fred Moorhead, Bobby Lee Hooper, Kevin Deramus, and Ed Bates.
