Algene Jaster, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 27th , 2025. Algene's love for his family and his gift for bringing laughter left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
Born on June 7th, 1950, in Brenham, Texas, Algene was the youngest of four children born to A.H. Jaster and Lois Hicks. He grew up in Brenham and graduated from Brenham High School. After high school, he attended Texas A&M University where he graduated with honors. In 1970, Algene married the love of his life, Carolyn Brewer. Soon after college, Algene served his country in the United States Army Reserves. Algene thrived in sales, where his charm and quick wit made him a natural. He found true joy in the outdoors, especially along the banks of the Frio River, his favorite camping spot, or casting lines in the Gulf. On the Frio, he loved to float and fish, finding peace in the gentle current and the tug of a line. In the Gulf, he relished the thrill of fishing, chasing the next big catch under the wide open sky. What made those moments unforgettable was Algene's knack for telling stories and jokes, filling the air with laughter. Whether spinning a tall tale by the river, sharing a fishing story from the Gulf, or delivering a perfectly timed one-liner that left everyone chuckling, he had a gift for making every moment brighter.
Algene is survived by his devoted wife Carolyn Brewer Jaster, his daughter Jodi Bachtell, her husband David, with their sons Tyler and Nathan; his daughter Jeana Jaster, her husband Wayne, with their daughter Mira; his sister Nancy Johnson; as well as nieces, nephews , and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents A.H. Jaster and Lois Hicks; his sisters Judi Troost and Jeanette Harris. His legacy endures through the stories he told, the laughter he shared and timeless moments spent with family.
A memorial service will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel, Brenham, Texas on October 19th at 2 pm. (Visitation at 1:30 pm with graveside following the service)
Algene's love and laughter will forever shine in the hearts of his wife, children, and grandchildren, who will carry his stories and his joy with them always.
