A.V. Carpenter, 77, of Brenham, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 6, 2003, in Brenham. A.V. was born November 27, 1925 to Newton Van and Elgie Wilson Carpenter in Terrell, Texas. He graduated from Forney High School in Forney, Texas. He served in the Navy and Army. He married his wife, Freda Bounds Carpenter, on May 19, 1956. A.V.worked for Bonds Clothing, Bank of the Southwest 1956-1980 and was a Precinct 1 Harris County Deputy Constable 1980-1992. He retired and moved to Brenham, Texas. In Houston, he was a member of Berean Baptist Church and after moving to Brenham was a member of First Baptist Church. A.V. is survived by his wife, Freda Carpenter of Brenham; his brothers, Don Carpenter and wife Mary of Wills Point, Texas and Ned Carpenter and wife Imogene of Terrell, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great nephews. The funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 10, in Memorial Oaks Chapel with Reverend Steve Ponder officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 P.M. Sunday, February 9, in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be Barry Bounds, Charles Ray Carpenter, Scott Carpenter, Christoper Kenjura, Scott Schumacher and Casey Sink. Honorary pallbearers will be Houston Precinct 1 Constables and Deputies as well as Payton Bounds, Kyle Curtis, Parker Montgomery, Caleb Spencer and Mitchell Sink. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 303 North Market Street, Brenham, Texas 77833. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, in Brenham.
