Ella Mae Vierus Rosenbaum Love, 90 of Brenham, died September 14, 2022 at her residence.
She was born on October 13, 1931 in Wesley, Tx. to Otto and Emma (Fritz) Vierus. Ella Mae was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church on November 1, 1931. She received the Holy Rite of Confirmation on December 5, 1943 in Immanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine, Tx.
Ella Mae married her first husband, Willie Rosenbaum, on November 24, 1949 at Zionsville Lutheran Church. They were blessed with three children: Raymond, Sheron and Laura. Willie passed away on January 25, 1967.
After her husband’s death, Ella Mae worked for Old Brazos Forge and Brenham Rest Home. However, she spent the majority of her employment years at Blue Bell Creameries on the production line. Her grandchildren have many fond memories of visiting grandma’s house and finding fresh treats from Blue Bell in the freezer. She retired from Blue Bell after 20 years of service.
On January 11, 1974, Ella Mae married her current husband, Eddie Love at Zionsville Lutheran Church. They made their home in Prairie Hill for the first 39 years of their marriage where they farmed their homestead. They then moved to Wonder Hill where they continued to farm the homestead in Prairie Hill as well as maintain the farm at their current residence.
Ella Mae was an avid gardener, quilter, and excellent cook. She was known for her multiple gardens full of fresh vegetables which she was always willing to share with family and friends. During the winter months, you could find her in the “butcher shop” where she would be helping various people process their own meat and helping them make sausage. There are many stories to be told about time spent in that shop. There were many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends who learned to stuff sausage with her closely watching. Ella Mae was not afraid of work. For many years, you would find her working at Blue Bell from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m., coming home for a quick lunch and to watch her soap opera, and then head out to the hay patch until dark. She loved her family very deeply and her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the stars in her eyes. She was always willing to help with whatever she could.
Ella Mae is survived by her husband of 48 years, Eddie Love of Brenham. She leaves to mourn her children and their spouses: Raymond and Karen Rosenbaum of Burton, Sheron and Stephen Citzler of LaGrange, and Laura and Bubba Jurries of Brenham. Her 5 grandchildren are: Theresa Garlin (Dwayne) of Fayetteville, Gwynne Mabie (John) of Brenham, Jeremy Rosenbaum (Stephanie) of Burton, Kyle Citzler (Lacey) of El Campo, and Kelsie Hrbacek (Stetson) of LaGrange.
