Wilbert Kettler, 77, of the William Penn community, died Saturday, February 14 at the family residence. Mr. Kettler was born July 8, 1926, in the William Penn community of Washington County, TX, to Henry Jr. and Erna Thane Kettler. On Nov. 3, 1946, he married Odell Louise Huseman. Mr. Kettler was a self-employed dairy farmer and retired U.S. Postal Service employee. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-laws: John Lane & Lisa Kettler, Mark & Julie Kettler, Marcus Biddy & Linda Kettler, all of Brenham; grandchildren: Lindsay Kettler, Elizabeth Kettler, and John Ross Kettler, all of Brenham; brothers and sisters-in-law: Edwin & Leona Kettler of Navasota, Herbert Kettler of Brenham, and Raymond & Pauline Kettler of Brenham; sisters and brother-in-law: Erna & Harold Gutezlaff of Kerrville, and Lorine Schroeder of Brenham; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Johnnie Mae & Pete Lueckemeyer and Ruby & Gus Seeker, all of Brenham. He was preceded in death by his wife, Odell Louise Kettler, on December 9, 1901; daughter, Linda Kay Kettler; parents, Erna and Henry Kettler Jr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Hilda Emshoff Huseman; sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Ervin Ashorn; brothers-in-law, Nolan Schroeder and Lawrence Lueckemeyer; and sister-in-law, Alvina Kettler. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 17 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn with Pastor Eldor J. Harmann officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives in Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 16. Pallbearers will be Michael Schroeder, Fritz Jaehne, Douglas Kettler, Stanley Kettler, Rick Seeker, David Boenker, Billy Ashorn and Mark Lam. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Newman, Harold Joe Schwarze and Vernon Ball. Memorials may be given to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, Texas 77833.
