Theodora Badke Sommerfeld, 87, of Burton, passed away December 2, 2005, in Trinity Care Center in Brenham. Mrs. Sommerfeld was born September 22, 1918, to Theodore William Badke and Louise Neese Badke, near Carmine. She was baptized July 27, 1919 by Rev. A. Falkenburg in Round Top Ev. Lutheran Church in Round Top and was confirmed on April 9, 1933, by Rev. H. Brunotte in Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine. On December 14, 1939, she was married to Alfred Edward Sommerfeld by Rev. H. Brunotte in Martin Lutheran Lutheran Church in Carmine. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and James Giese of College Station; one sister-in-law, Dorscile Badke of Brenham; three grandchildren and their spouses, Leah and Lee McCabe, Lance and Shannon Giese, all of College Station and Laton Giese of Nacogdoches; three great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Kassidy McCabe and Kai Giese; and nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Sommerfeld, on Feb. 6, 1996; her brothers, Ted Badke and Hulen Badke; and her parents. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 4 in St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton with Rev. Glen Schoeneberg and Greg Felder officiating. Burial will be in the La Bahia Cemetery, near Burton. The family will receive visitors at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3. Pallbearers will be Douglas Badke, Ben Acosta, Mervin Maass, Gene Thaler, Dennis Maass, Darrell Kieke, Aubrey Harmel, Ray Felder and Ben Bosse. Memorials may be made to St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton or Trinity Care Center in Brenham.
