Stanley Mansfield Brookover, beloved father and grandfather, born October 28, 1920, in Arcadia, California, passed peacefully in his sleep on October 1, 2011 in Brenham, Texas at 90 years of age. Mr. Brookover was an adopted son of the Lone Star State, residing in Texas for over 50 years. He is survived by his daughters Valerie Lynn Ryan and Wendy Lee Maboudian, and his five grandchildren: Farial and Parnaz Maboudian; Peter, Claire, and Shannon Ryan. Mr. Brookover, was the son of Stanley Henry and Stella Elizabeth Truss Brookover. Mr. Brookover was a California Maritime Academy graduate and a veteran of World War II, serving as a lieutenant in the United States Merchant Marines. Stan was a 50 year Mason and was Chief Engineer for over half a century, on both oil and gas tankers. He was a man of many talents, loving and generous and will be deeply missed. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, under the auspices of Graham Lodge 20 AF&AM. A Mass will be held for Mr. Brookover, at the request of his daughter Valerie at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland, Oregon. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice Brazos Valley in Brenham at 302 E Blue Bell Rd, Brenham, TX 77833, who played such a meaningful role at the end of Mr. Brookover''s life.
