Rosemary Flovin

March 21, 1920 — September 28, 2013

ROSEMARY RICKS FLOVIN , 93, was welcomed by angels into heaven on September 28, 2013 in Brenham, TX. RoseMary was born March 21, 1920 in Meeker, OK to Herbert and Loyce Ricks, the second of two daughters. She grew up in Shawnee, OK. After getting through Business School, she moved to Oklahoma City where she met Jack Flovin. They married on August 17, 1943. RoseMary and Jack moved to Houston, TX in 1960 where she became the principal bookkeeper for engineering firm Walker & Associates. She worked there until she retired in 1985. RoseMary and Jack were married until Jack''s death in 1998. RoseMary and Jack became active members of the Canterbury Methodist Church in Houston and enjoyed the camaraderie with other members. You could always count on the two of them, arm in arm, to be the center of attention. Before and after Jack''s death, it was church members who came to help her since she didn''t drive. She considered those relationships such a blessing. In 2003, she sold the house and moved to Brenham, TX, to be closer to her daughter, Cathy. RoseMary enjoyed many crafts. She especially liked crocheting and other needlework. Hundreds of crocheted angels were brought into life, some large, some small, and given away to family and friends especially at Christmas time. She loved her little dogs, CheChe and Muffin who traveled with her and Jack everywhere. RoseMary is survived by her sister, Treba Ringler Ft. Wayne, IN; daughter Jackie Hawley and her husband Charles of San Carlos, CA; daughter Cathy Norman and her husband Bill of Brenham, TX; grandson Trey Norman and his wife Sheila of Sioux Falls, SD; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Graveside services are being held at Tecumseh Cemetery, Pottawatomie County, OK on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. The service is being conducted by Reverend Elaine Kirkland, RoseMary''s niece from New York City. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to a charity of your choice. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham, Tx. 77833.
