Rosa Bugaj, 85, died August 30, 2013 in College Station Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3, at St. Mary''s Catholic Church, with Father Benedict Zientek officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday evening, with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Rosa was born June 5, 1928 in the Rocky Hill community of Washington County to Walter and Malinda Schuermer Drews. She was both baptized and confirmed in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. After completing her education, she married Louis Joseph Bugaj on August 21, 1949 at St. Mary''s Catholic Church in Brenham, where she remained a faithful member until her death. Rosa was retired from Brenham State School after 19 years as a MHMR Assistant. A member of St. Mary''s Catholic Church, she was also a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed watching Cub football games, ironing for people and was an avid bingo player. She will be greatly missed by her two special pet companions, Daisy and Buster. Survivors include sons Charles "Butch" and Betty Bugaj and Chris and Tammy Bugaj, all of Brenham; daughter Shirley Rowan and husband Bill of Brenham; grandchildren: Lenny Barrera, Angie and Craig Stickley, Kyna and Ryan Eastlick, Scott and Melanie Chasteen, Kyle Bugaj, and Adam Bugaj; great-grandchildren Dylan Brandt, Skylar Stickley, Morgan Stickley, Trey Barrera, Ivey Barrera, Emma Clare Eastlick, Greyson Chasteen, and James Archer Chasteen. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister, Esther Drews, brothers-in-law Johnnie Bugaj, Paul Bugaj, and Edward Jankowski. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Regina Jankowski, Helen Bugaj and Lucille Bugaj. Serving as pallbearers are Scott Chasteen, Ryan Eastlick, Mark Kwiatkowski, Lenny Barrera, Craig Stickley, Raymond Warmke, Kenneth Pieper, and Natividad Macias, Jr. Memorials may be directed to any favorite charity.
