Robert Stevenson

Robert "Bob" W. Stevenson, 74 of Brenham, died Monday July 14, 2008 in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Visitation with the family will be from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 16 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 17 at First United Methodist Church in Brenham with the Rev. Dale Chance, Rev. Sam Duree and Rev. Terry Dougherty officiating. Graveside services will be held at Independence Cemetery in Independence, under the auspices of Graham Lodge #20 AF & AM. Masons will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Stevenson was born April 10, 1936, in Lovelady, Texas, to Wade Hampton and Gay Sanders Stevenson. He was a graduate of Giddings High School and attended Southwestern University and the University of Texas. Mr. Stevenson served in the Army Reserves. On March 21, 1978, he was married to Jan Hueske Zinsmeyer in Giddings. Mr. Stevenson was a member of First United Methodist Church of Brenham. He was Past Worshipful Master of the Graham Lodge #20 AF & AM and the J.D. Giddings Masonic Lodge #280. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and was in the Drum and Bugle Corps of Khiva Shrine Temple. His entire employment was in sales, first for his father at the Tractor Co. in Giddings, then for Mack Trucks, Western Auto and Timsco. He retired from Case Power and Equipment. Mr. Stevenson enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching deer. He loved living in Independence and having family gatherings. Survivors include his wife, Jan Hueske Zinsmeyer Stevenson of Brenham; children, Robert W. Stevenson and wife Vickie of Cameron, Paula Stevenson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Joel Zinsmeyer of Austin and Mark Zinsmeyer of Houston; grandchildren, Mandy, Jeff, Monica and Jared; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tom Stevenson of Giddings and Kenneth Stevenson of La Grange; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carol and Wesley Westerfeld of Brenham, Gloria and Billy Lehde of Brenham and Alisa and Ken Locke of Frankston; and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials should be directed to First United Methodist Church of Brenham, the Independence Cemetery Association or the Shriners Hospital. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
