Leroy Thielemann

Leroy F. Thielemann, 82, husband of Birdie Stiba Thielemann, of Brenham, died October 11, 2007 in Trinity Care Center. Mr. Thielemann was born in Brenham, Texas on September 9, 1925 to Bernhardt H. and Emilie Meyer Thielemann. Mr. Thielemann was a graduate of Brenham High School and attended Southwestern University. He served in the US Navy in World War II. He was a proud member of the 1942 Brenham High School football team. On October 15, 1948, he married Birdie Stiba in St. Paul s Lutheran Church in Taylor. He was employed for 46 years by Schleider Furniture Co. of Brenham, where he enjoyed a lengthy and rewarding career selling furniture. He was happy to help third and fourth generation families select the furniture for their homes. He was a member of the Brenham Kiwanis Club, and both he and his wife were active members of St. Paul s Lutheran Church of Brenham. Survivors include his wife, Birdie Thielemann; son Barney Thielemann, son Steven Thielemann and wife Lois, all of Brenham; daughter Rebecca Lynn Sheffield and husband Johnny of Houston; sister Nell Picone of Missouri City; three grandchildren: Matt Sheffield and wife Shawna; Cammy Sheffield and friend Keith Kunkel; Stephanie Thielemann, and great-grandchildren, Hailey and Brandon Sheffield. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Ben Thielemann, and his sister, Dorothy Winkelmann. Funeral services for Leroy F. Thielemann will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2007 in Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham with Pastor Lawrence Bade officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will take place at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12. Serving as pallbearers are John Maddox, Corey Klussmann, Ken Winkelmann, Lloyd Neutzler, Brian Fritz, and Charlie Matejowsky. Memorials may be given to Hospice Brazos Valley, 302 East Blue Bell Road, Brenham, Tx. 77833 Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
