Laverna Gaskamp

April 30, 1936 — August 21, 2010

On Saturday August 21, 2010, LaVerna Gaskamp went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and to be with the love of her life, her husband Delbert La Verna, 74, passed away at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. She is the widow of Delbert Herman Gaskamp. She was born on April 30, 1936 to John Seilheimer and Minnie Roehling Seilheimer. LaVerna was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg. On August 2, 1953 LaVerna married Delbert Gaskamp at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg with Reverend Paul Fisher officiating. LaVerna was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Gay Hill. She was employed at Milroy and later Bohne Hospital for a number of years as a nurses aide. She worked for Steadly Co., Broecker Wood Work and the Pearl Beer Distributor. LaVerna would never turn down a good game of cards at Kelm''s Store and with her friend Renee Allen at home. She and Delbert were members of the 290 Dance Club. When she and Delbert would go on vacation with their three sons, they would camp out and fish. On numerous occasions they would be joined by their friends. Survivors include Allen and Julie Gaskamp of Brenham, Jeffrey ½Pete½ Gaskamp of Burton, and Craig and Ann Gaskamp of Brenham, brother Walter Seilheimer of Burton, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Juanita Seilheimer of Brenham, Paul and Ann Gaskamp of Brenham, Harry Gaskamp of Brenham, grandchildren; Jonathan and Melissa Gaskamp, Wayne Gaskamp, Amie and Russell Rudasill, Emilie Gaskamp, and Jon Gaskamp, great grandchild Audrie Gene Rudasill, her puppie Misti and special friend Renee Allen and numerous nieces and nephews.. Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers, and a sister-in-law, Ruth "Tootsie" Clifton. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and a memorial service will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Alan Kethan officiating. Memorials may be directed to St. Peter½s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill.
