Joyce West

Joyce Flourine Heller West, 83, of Brenham, died Dec. 4, 2006, at Bluebonnet Hills Care Center in Brenham, Texas Mrs. West was born Aug. 17, 1923 in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of Leon T. and Eva Troup Heller. She was baptized on April 15, 1938 at Brooklyn Memorial Methodist Church in Cleveland, OH. Mrs. West attended public schools in Cleveland, OH. On Feb. 8, 1942 she was married to John Miles Jack West by the Reverend Hodder at Brooklyn Memorial Methodist Church in Cleveland, OH. She moved with her family from Cleveland, OH to Montclair, CA in 1954 and resided there until 1998 when she and Mr. West moved to Brenham. Mrs. West was a homemaker and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She also worked as a secretary at several schools in her hometown California community. She loved gardening, bowling, singing in the choir, and had the flower arranging skills of a professional florist. She was a member of Brooklyn Memorial Methodist Church in Cleveland, OH and Montclair Methodist Church in Montclair, CA. Mrs. West was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, her brother-in-law, one nephew and various aunts and uncles. Survivors include her daughter and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Steve Miller of Burton; daughter and son-in-law, Laurel and Jack Ancone of Brenham; sister, Janice Warren of Parma, OH; grandchildren, Edward and Donna Miller of Burton, Deborah and Scott Hadley of Cypress, TX, Michael Ancone of Brenham, TX and Alexandrea Ancone of Brenham, TX; great-grandchildren, Elena and Evan Miller of Burton, TX and Max Hadley of Cypress, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and one aunt, Evelyn Pamment of Florida. The family will receive visitors Sunday, Dec. 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St. in Brenham, TX. Graveside services will be held on Monday, Dec. 11 at 4:00 p.m. at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham, TX with the Rev. Glen Schoeneberg and Pastor Greg Felder officiating. Pallbearers will be Eddie Miller, Michael Ancone, Scott Hadley, Leon Hadley, Craig Steele, Matthew Steele, Jack Ancone Sr. and Steve Ancone.
