Jean P. Riddle, 92, widow of Clayton Edward Riddle, passed away July 10, 2013 in Brenham. Jean was born September 28, 1920 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Kenneth W. and Jewel Eugenia Batemen Powell. After completing her education, she served her country in the U. S. Army from August 20, 1943 to January 24, 1946, as a First Lieutenant Registered Nurse, receiving the following accolades: the American Theater Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze Service Star. On November 26, 1947, she married Clayton Riddle in Galveston, Texas. Dedicated to her church, St. Paul''s Episcopal Church in Woodville, Texas, Jean took great pride in creating crafts to benefit the church. She was especially known for her pine cone wreaths, crafted from natural elements, including pine cones, acorns, and local plant life. She provided a loving and nurturing home for her family. Survivors include her daughter, Sandy Wade and husband Larry; grandchildren Jason B Wade, and Tiffany Harrington, Lisa L. Wade and husband Jason, Greg Haffington and wife Tiffany, and great-grandchildren Julia and Jessica Wade. She was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth W. and Jewel E. Powell, her husband, Clayton Riddle, and a sister, Agnes Brasher. The family will receive friends and relatives at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel, and a private graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville, Texas.
