Henry Zientek, 81, of Brenham, died on February 4, 2011, the husband of Joyce Poehlman Weiss Zientek. Memorial services for Henry Zientek will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Salem Lutheran Church of Salem with Pastor Charles Parnell officiating. Visitation with the family for stories and remembrances of his life, following the service. Henry was born on October 23, 1929 to John and Mary Stegent Zientek in Washington County, Texas. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary''s Catholic Church. Henry was married to Joyce Poehlmann Weiss on April 29, 1979 at the chapel St. Paul''s Lutheran Church by her son, The Reverend Art Weiss. Ranching was Henry''s life. It was his job, hobby and only interest. He especially loved horses and remembered every good cow horse he ever rode and their particular traits. He was the foreman of Knolle Ranch for 34 years. After he and Joyce married they started Bar Z Ranch and continued ranching until his health failed. Henry was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Salem. Survivors include his wife Joyce Zientek, step sons & daughter-in-law Reverend Art Weiss of Crystal Falls, Michigan, Robert Weiss of Brenham, and William and Rose Weiss of Brenham, step daughter and son-in-law Anne and Gary Merkel of Brenham, children of the heart Delbert and Terry Boeker, and his God Children, Drew and Taylor Boeker, brother: Harry Zientek and friend Doris Gray of Houston, sister Martha Murski of Brenham, sisters-in-law Cecilia Zientek of Houston, Natalie Zientek of Houston, sister-in-law Helen Schulz , brother-in-law & sister-in-law Ralph and Jeanette Poehlmann, grandchildren; Kevin & Ginny Weiss of El Campo, Sara & Kelly Weiss of Brenham, Sheri Merkel Diehl and husband Jason of Huntsville, Valerie Merkel of Huntsville, Paula Weiss Jacobs & and husband Bradley of League City, John Weiss of Texarkana, God children Drew and Taylor Boeker and great-grandchild Emily Rose Jacobs of League City, and numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law R F. and Elsie Poehlmann, brothers Max and Nick Zientek, sister Regina Sykowski and husband Florian, brothers-in-law John Mikeska Jr., Del Schulz, and Max Murski. Memorial may be given to Lutherhill Ministries P.O. 99, LaGrange, Tx 78945. or Salem Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
