Harold "Pete" Lueckemeyer, 95, of Brenham, widower of Johnnie Mae Huseman Lueckemeyer, passed away August 26, 2011 in Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Jeffrey King will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Mr. Lueckemeyer was born June 20, 1916 in William Penn, Texas, to Henry and Ida Schroeder Lueckemeyer. He was baptized in Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn by Pastor Bohot and was confirmed on March 29, 1931 at the same church by Pastor C.J. Appel. On Sept. 16, 1943, he was married to Johnnie Mae Huseman in Grace Lutheran Church by the Rev. T.H. Grahlmann. They were married for 67 years. In December, 1941 he entered the Army and served in Canada. He was with the 35th Engineers, who built the Alaska Highway. After finishing the highway, he went to Europe where he served until 1945. Mr. Lueckemeyer was employed with the LCRA for a number of years and the Bryan Air Base. He retired from Lueckemeyer Electric. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn, where he served as an officer for a number of years. He was a member of the American Legion and NRA and loved to hunt, fish and play cards. He was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Mae Huseman Lueckemeyer; parents; son, Don Lueckemeyer; son-in-law, Larry Rude; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Hilda Huseman; brothers and sisters-in-law, Otto and Meta Lueckemeyer, Ben and Hulda Lueckemeyer, Edwin and Thekla Lueckemeyer and Marvin Lueckemeyer; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Willie and Bertha Pohlmeyer and Reinhard and Edna Pohlmeyer. Pallbearers will be Randal Hoppens, Ronnie Lueckemeyer, Ervin Meier, Dale Hinze, Duane Lueckemeyer and Bill Nutt. Honorary pallbearers are Al and Amanda Hafer, Dennis and Pat Meyer, Willie and Grace Kankel, Landon and Shirley Klussmann, Hattie Faye Gross and Gayle and Arno Jahnke. Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., Brenham.
