Geneva Tonn

Geneva Tonn of Brenham, the widow of Elton G. Tonn Junior , died Friday at her residence. She was born October 16, 1930 in Zionsville to Ed and Bertha Bathe Lehrmann. On December 7, 1930 she was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed there. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Kirby Jack and Dorothy Lehrmann; sister-in-law, Gertrude Lehrmann Schroeder and husband, Gilbert, sister-in-law Sylvia Lehrmann, uncle and aunt, Melvin and Nancy Grimm. Nieces and nephews include James and Lucretia Lehrmann, Patricia Cooke, Marilyn and James Snell, Carolyn and Cary Conklin, Faye and Doyle Rogers, Linda and Ray Thaler, Ann and Larry Pape, and Lynden Lehrmann. Great nieces and nephews include Robert Lehrmann and fiancé Jana, Amy and Brad Fritsch, Ryan Pape, Matt Thaler, Ron Lehrmann, Lindsay Thaler, Angie Pape, Bruce Lehrmann, Bobbie Jane Lehrmann, Melissa and Scott Santana, Courtney and Jason Tarbox, Carson and Lindsay Conklin, Colby Conklin and fiancé Brandy, and Toren Lehrmann. Great-great nephews, Lane and Logan Fritsch; great-great niece Bryana Lehrmann. She was preceded in death by her husband Elton G. Jr. Tonn, brothers, Edmond W Lehrmann, Reuben Jim Lehrmann, sister-in-law, Lynette Lehrmann, nephew, Robert W Lehrmann Bob , Great nieces, Jamie Cooke, Leslie Snell, and great nephew, John Cooke, great-great niece, Averie Fritsch. Known to many as Aunt Geneva , Sister , or GiGi , she will be remembered for her love of life, family and friends. Her greatest joys were playing cards and dominos, out of town trips with friends and working in her yard. Most importantly her beautiful smile, out-going personality, uplifting spirit and her strong faith will be a lasting memory to all who knew her. During her struggle with cancer, devoted friends and family, too numerous to mention, helped comfort and care for her. She and her family have truly cherished the love and kindness shown to her. The family will receive visitors Monday, January 9, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham with pastors Matthew Jacobs and William Holzer officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Her great nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include: Nancy and Leon Thiel, Shirley and JD Mueller, Lois McGlaucklin, Marilyn Stein, Otto Lehrmann, Debbie Lehrmann, Oren and Helen Sommerfeld. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
