Emmett Lehmann

November 22, 1934 — January 9, 2014

Emmett Lehmann, 79, of Brenham, died peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 9, 2014, at his residence. Visitation with the family will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 12 at St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham with Pastors Phil Fenton and Kindlee Lund officiating. A private burial will be held for the family prior to the service. Mr. Lehmann was born Nov. 22, 1934 in Brenham, TX, to Henry and Clara Blome Lehmann. He was baptized Dec. 23, 1934 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church at Sandy Hill and was confirmed April 2, 1950 at St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham. Mr. Lehmann was a graduate of Brenham High School and served in the National Guard. He was a faithful member of St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served on the council and various committees and helped to maintain the Radio Ministry. On Oct. 23, 1955, he was married to Shirlene Juergens at St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham. Mr. Lehmann was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling and visiting with his friends at Felder''s. He took pride in keeping his yard and vehicles immaculate. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Shirlene Lehmann of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Larry Gallo of Cypress and Lee Ann and Roger Chambers of Burton; grandson, Thomas Jeffry Gallo; brother and sisters-in-law, Lenard and Ruth Lehmann and Esther Lehmann; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronald and Florene Juergens; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffry David Lehmann on Aug. 29, 1981; his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eugene and Lillie Juergens; brother, Eugene Lehmann; and infant brother-in-law, Charles Gene Juergens. Pallbearers will be Mark Lehmann, Alan Lehmann, John Parker, Jeryl Finke, Scott Finke and Jay Lightfoot. Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Gutierrez, employees of LaRoche Chevrolet and his friends on the delivery route. Memorials may be given to St. Paul''s Christian Day School, CASA For Kids or the charity of choice. Funerals services are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., Brenham, 979-836-4564.
