Dorothy Longbotham

Dorothy Mayer Longbotham, 71, of Round Top, TX, died Jan. 10, 2003, in Garland, TX. Mrs. Longbotham was born Aug. 12, 1931, in Round Top, TX, to Willie John Fritz and Irene Leona Muske Mayer. She was baptized in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby and was confirmed in Fayetteville, TX. She was a 1950 graduate of Bellville High School, where she was active in softball, basketball and volleyball. After graduating from high school she enjoyed following Houston s professional sports teams. On Sept. 28, 1968, she married Odis C. Longbotham in Bellville, TX. Mrs. Longbotham was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, yard work and cooking. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby and the Shelby Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Faye Dodson of Naples and L. William Woody Dodson of Garland; daughter, Karen Dodson of Garland; sisters and brothers-in-law, Verline and Phillip Schulte of Brenham, Beatrice M. Krimm of Brenham and Carolyn and Bill Schutte of New Ulm; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Odis Longbotham; her parents; and her brothers-in-law, Pete Krimm and Wilbert Kunkel. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby with Pastor Jim Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Shelby Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. today. Her nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
