Funeral services for Delores Gummelt are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with burial to follow in Jaeger-Witte Cemetery. Rev. Rich Nelson will officiate. Delores passed away Sept. 22, 2012 in Bryan, at the age of 79. The family will receive friends and relatives Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Delores was born January 30, 1933 in Burton to Henry Claude and Lillie Meta Neumann Jaeger. On December 27, 1950, she was married to Delvin "Jack" Gummelt, who preceded her in death on May 17, 1982. Delores was employed as an archivist at the Briscoe Center of American History at Winedale. A manager of the Winedale German Singers, she was also a member of the Washington Co. Texas German Society. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Daryl and Kathy Gummelt; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Mike Byrd; granddaughters Kellie and Christopher Kulow, Sr., and Leigh Ann and Adam Seilheimer; grandsons: Chris Byrd and special friend, Andi Day, and Kevin and Kristina Byrd; great-grandchildren: Kay Lynn, Christopher, Jr., and Cameron Kulow, and Adalynn Seilheimer; brothers and sisters-in-law Jerry and Paulette Jaeger, and Larry and Ruth Jaeger; sisters Jeanette Zemanek, Edith and Earl Featherston; sister-in-law Sarah Jaeger, as well as special family members, Linda Bartels and Joyce Dube. Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Gummelt; parents, Henry and Lillie Jaeger and parents-in-law Norman and Lydia Gummelt; brothers Bernhardt Jaeger, Melvern Jaeger, Wilburn Jaeger, and Lanis "Blitz" Jaeger; sisters-in-law Lois Jaeger and Thresa Jaeger; brother-in-law Robert Zemanek, and son-in-law, Zohn Adams. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Winedale Historical Center c/o Briscoe Center for American History, Arno Nowotny Bldg., 1 University Station D1100, Austin, Tx. 78712-0335 or to the Winedale German Singers.
