Barbara Merchant

Barbara Kay Odom Merchant, 61, of Brenham, passed away on February 2, 2013 at the Brenham Rest Home surrounded by love ones. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Jason Morgan will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Barbara was born March 27, 1951 in Falfurrias, TX to Willie Edward and Mary Jonell Smith Odom. Barbara loved her family. She also loved to dance and she loved Mexican food. She enjoyed playing bingo, loved listening to music and watching "B" movies. She was always very helpful and compassionate to anyone in need. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law; Keith Dallmeyer and Christy of Brenham, daughters and sons-in-law; Karen Bertling and Gary of Fayetteville, TX and Shannon Selden and Tim of Brenham, brother and sister-in-law; William "Billy" Odom and Eva of Brenham, sisters and brothers-in-law; Linda Hurst of Navasota, TX, Glenda "Sissy" Lawrence and John of Brenham, TX, and Connie Odom of Spring, TX., grandchildren: Joshua Devine, Jonathan Devine, Jessica Devine, Earl Ives, Carin Bertling, and Wyatt Selden, 9 nephews, 2 nieces and numerous other relatives. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law: James Hurst, and nephew: Marvin Hurst. Pallbearers include Clint Hurst, John "J.J." Lawrence, Jr., William "W.H." Odom, Michael Wilson, Greg Franco and Ricky Kasprowicz. Honorary pallbearers are Joshua Devine, Jonathan Devine, Earl Ives, Wyatt Selden, Carin Bertling, Jessica Devine, Chuck Lawrence, Paul Odom, Joey Bayer, John Smith and Dustin Smith.
