Alma Fischer

On July 23, 2004, Alma Eberhardt Fischer was called home by her Lord. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved to be around people. Mrs. Fischer was born Sept. 3, 1903, in Burton, TX, to Fritz and Mary Wilkening Eberhardt. She was educated in Washington County schools. On Nov. 22, 1923, she was married to Gustav William Fischer in Rehburg. Mrs. Fischer was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and Women of the ELCA. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Margie Fischer of Burton; daughters and son-in-law, Mary Louise and Edward Hoff of Brenham and Adele Kunkel of Burton; 12 grandchildren, Gloria and Tony Foltin, Ronnie and Maggie Mayer, William and Kathy Mayer, Sandra and Ray Stepan, Donna and Darelle White, Debbie and Brian Newton, Al Duane and Donna Kunkel, Gail and Danny Rudloff, Pat and Scott Blezinger, Mark and Ronda Kunkel, Glenda and Cerjio Cerda and Ricky Fischer and friend Charlotte; 20 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gustav Fischer on Nov. 13, 1959; daughter and son-in-law, Elverna and John Henry Mayer; granddaughter, Sharon Martin; son-in-law, Alfred Kunkel; and great-great-granddaughter, LaTonya Martin. The funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 25 in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rehburg with Pastor Larry Henrichs officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Fischer will lie in state at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., Brenham, from 5:00 p.m. today until noon Saturday, July 24. Then she will be moved to Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday in Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Pallbearers will be Ray Stepan, Ronnie Mayer, Al Duane Kunkel, Ricky Fischer, Mark Kunkel, William Mayer, Berry Lee Goldberg and Bobby Bredthauer. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.
