Alfred Jessie Gaskamp, 87, husband of Nelda Wieghat Gaskamp, died April 22, 2010 in Brenham Rest Home. Born December 20, 1922 in the William Penn Community to Otto and Emma Rosenbaum Gaskamp, he was baptized and confirmed in Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. On October 19, 1947, he was married to Nelda Wieghat in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill by Rev. Paul Gogolen. He was retired from Mickan Hardware, where he worked as a salesman. Survivors include his wife, Nelda Gaskamp; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Carrie Gaskamp of Kingwood; daughter Ruth Gaskamp of Brenham; grandchildren Lucas and Megan Gaskamp and Clayton and Kristina Gaskamp; great-grandchildren: Cameron Logan and Carson Lane Gaskamp; brothers and sisters-in-law Raymond and Ann Gaskamp, Melvin and Pearl Gaskamp, Monroe Gaskamp, and Clarence and Bernice Gaskamp, all of Brenham; sister and brother-in-law Meta and Herbert Mutscher of Brenham; sisters-in-law Annie Gaskamp of Brenham and Florence Gaskamp of Richmond. Preceding him in death were his son, Fred Allen Gaskamp; sister Louise Gaskamp, sister and brother-in-law Thekla and Jim Lueckemeyer; brothers and sisters-in-law Henry and Alma Gaskamp, Herbert and Hattie Gaskamp, Walter Gaskamp, Otto Gaskamp and sister-in-law Lillian Gaskamp. Funeral services for Alfred Jessie Gaskamp will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville with Pastor Jim Abbott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Friday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel form 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are Kenneth Mutscher, Delvin Gaskamp, Charles Gaskamp, Fred Gaskamp, Tommy Gaskamp, Greg Gaskamp, Eugene Gaskamp and Douglas Buck. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville or to a favorite charity. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W.
